Frank Sands
Mid-west region
Frank is one of the stalwarts in the sport especially in the Great Lakes and mid-west region. He started rowing in the late 60’s at West Catholic High School, Vesper Boat Club, Mercyhurst University and represented the US Youth National team in 1972. In the late 70’s Frank was Head Coach at the University of Nebraska.
In 1990 Frank commenced coaching at North Catholic High School and is currently in his 32nd year has Head Coach. During that time he has had several other business interests including establishing a company called Cox’n Unlimited Inc. with his wife Cindy.
Frank commenced his association with Resolute in 2009 and has been a great member of our customer facing team providing excellent guidance and support for the younger members of
the team. Frank’s passion for Resolute is unmatched and he continues to serve the company across the Great Lakes and mid-west regions very enthusiastically.

Ed Bell
Business & Customer Development
A new member of the team, Ed is focusing on key account management and sales development. Ed began rowing in his college years at Northeastern University in Boston MA. After flying P3 Orions in the US Navy, he trained for the US Rowing team and earned a spot on three teams under the coaching of Charles Butt and Igor Grinko. Later, he coached the LM4X alongside Craig Hoffman at the worlds. Ed enjoys coaching on the water and in the training room.

Mark Nothnagel
Mark Nothnagel is a former global manufacturing executive that has turned his years of experience towards building some of the top boat building companies in the world. Mark was formerly the Executive General Manager and Chief Technology Officer of Pact Group Holdings Ltd., a global packaging and containers company. As an entrepreneur, Mark has joined forces with Jeff Lawrence to become a Managing Director of Sykes Racing and now is co-owner of Resolute Rowing. Mark is passionate about rowing too, having been indoctrinated into the sport as the father of two rowers who have competed in Division I programs in the United States.
Jeff Lawrence
Jeff Lawrence is a passionate rower and entrepreneur. Jeff has won several championships as an athlete and a coach for the renowned Mercantile Rowing Club in Melbourne, Australia and has a long record of success as a business leader and owner. After building several successful businesses, Jeff acquired the controlling interest in Australia’s Sykes Racing and has built it into the dominant boat builder in Australia. Jeff and his partners acquired Resolute Rowing in 2019 as a way to marry the over 50 year history of Sykes Racing with the craftsmanship and durability he has come to admire in Resolute shells.
Ed Gehres
Ed Gehres is the American operating partner in Resolute Rowing and is an avid competitive rower and business leader. Ed rowed four years at the University of Michigan and has continued as a master’s rower at Potomac Boat Club in Washington, DC, where has been a part of multiple national championship crews. Ed is an attorney with over 20 years experience as a strategic business advisor to start-ups, social ventures, fintech companies, hedge funds, and private equity funds.
